CBD products have been in high demand since they became more mainstream and, thanks to an influx of people seeking out natural alternatives as a gentler way to alleviate symptoms from sleep issues like insomnia, anxiety to chronic pain, it doesn't look like this trend will slow down anytime soon.

What is CBD?

What are the effects & benefits of CBG

Considered the mother of all cannabinoids, CBG is the precursor to most all cannabinoids. Unlike THC, CBG can help alleviate pain without getting you high. Moreover, CBG also has anti-depressant, antibacterial, and anti-cancer properties.

Much like CBD, CBG may be able to combat pain without the psychoactive effects of cannabinoids like THC. Since CBG works by binding both CB1 and CB2 receptors, research has shown that CBG offers similar benefits as CBD, and is a potential agent for pain and inflammation reduction, on top of soothing nausea.

 

Difference between CBD and CBG

While CBG is often compared to CBD because it shares many similarities, they both have very different chemical composition. One of the biggest differences between the two is the amount that is found in the cannabis plant. Most cannabis plants only contain 1% of CBG and up to 25% of CBD. Furthermore, because of their different chemical makeup, the way CBG interacts with our endocannabinoid system is totally different from CBD. Since CBG binds directly to your CB1 and CB2 receptors, it’s more efficient at delivering its therapeutic benefits to our system.

Interestingly, when taken in isolation, people have noted that CBG makes them feel drowsy, while CBD alone makes them feel energized. However, when taken together, CBD and CBG balance each other out and amplify their painkilling, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties.
